Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Bio Update 11/9/12 Oliver here! Well I went to the vet this week, it wasn't quite as fun as my last visit where Dr. Gene just looked at my ears and all that good stuff.. Nopers! I got what foster mom calls a "Nose to tail" done. I had 10 teeth pulled :( I got neutered, which she says is a good thing. They pulled some nasty ickies outta my ear so now I can hear SO much better. I had all my shots and found out that I dont have heartworms.. Foster dad feels bad but foster mom says that its the only way I can get to my furever home. Well Im still pretty tired from all of that, my FM has more to say..
FM Here! Mr. Oliver did great at his vet visit this week, as he said he had quite a few teeth pulled and the vet would like to see him again in 6 months to check some others that my eventually have to come out. He was neutered and found out in general, for being 8 years old he is in pretty awesome health. He is on antibiotics for about a week for his ear which had a wax plug that became quite infected and his neuter but after that will be ready for that furever home hes been looking for. We are still working on some potty issues with Oliver, he will go outside, he knows thats where to go but he just hasn't figured out that he needs to let us know :) One thing we are learning about Oliver, he is HILARIOUS! Yes he naps most of the time but when hes up and moving about, hes just so funny to watch. He has not quite figured toys yet, so he makes anything he can find into something fun. Tied up socks so far are a fave :) Oliver has already started eating his normal food again since his surgery just Thursday. We tried giving him softened food and he wanted nothing to do with it, his lack of teeth are not an issue he is aware of.
So what would Oliver need from you? We talked about this the other day on our way to vet.. He has a few requests that I think are very doable for most families looking to adopt any pet.
1. He likes to sleep where you are, if not in your bed, even just in the same room. He has a little area at the foot of our bed where he likes to sleep, half under the bed with his little nose stickin out.
2. Pups, he likes the other pups here. He has not quite figured out how to play with them yet but he does not seem to have any issues at all with sharing his home with other fur creatures at all. (At least pups, we don't have a cat here so I really can't answer that)
3. Food and water, ya know the basic stuff. He shares his food just fine with others but I will warn you he likes to flip the dish, I am afraid is Fur-brother Fred taught him this..
4. Walks, he loves to go on walks or even just a simple car ride. In general Oliver loves to be outside. Of course now the weather here in Iowa is getting chilly so our outtings are shorter but he is usually the last one to follow in.
5. A companion, I don't know how close to people he was before he came here but I can tell you he LOVES his people. He follows my husband around a lot and seems to enjoy just being a part of a family.
I know when you look at this cute face you think, "awe", then you see his age and think "oh". DON'T! 8 years old is up in age for a pup I know but trust me, old or young, all pups are worth giving a chance to. Oliver is healthy, he's funny and most important he's free to just be a pup now and not having to breed all the time.
Initial Bio 10/22/12: Oliver is an 8 year old 7 lb male who came to us this weekend. He is a very laid back little man and loves to explore his environment and take naps. He does well on a leash and stays close to his person. Oliver has to have some extensive dental work done before he can be available for adoption as well as a neuter which will all be done Nov. 8th.. So keep an eye here for updates on Oliver as we are still learning about him day by day :)
