Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Gretchen is in Salt Lake City. Gretchen is four years old and is an Airedale mix. She is about the standard size of an Airedale (55 lbs.) She has a very sweet disposition, is very affectionate and active. Gretchen is sadly coming back in to rescue because her owner died.
She loves being loved. She is house trained and crate trained. She does a little counter surfing but is easily redirected.
Gretchen is kid friendly and loves to play soccer. She will actually bounce it back and forth with you. She is protective of her yard and barks when someone knocks at the door or rings the bell.
Gretchen knows several commands, but needs work on a leash. She does very well with a Halti.
Gretchen does not share well with other dogs in her home. She is ok with them until there is food, water, her dog bed or a toy in the vicinity and then she feels she has to defend those items from other dogs. Her first family gave her up because of problems with their small dog. Amazingly she had no interest in their 3 cats. She loved their 2 kids and slept with them.
At the park she is fine with other dogs while she is on the leash and is just happy to be out walking at the park. She greets them properly and is ready to move on.
Gretchen is what is called a Black Airedale. The breeders of these dogs say they are purebred. According to the Airedale standard, they are mixes because they are not black and tan. Personality wise, Gretchen is all Airedale.
Are you willing to let Gretchen be the only dog in your household? In return, you will have the loving devotion of a beautiful affectionate, playful Airedale mix girl.
Gretchen is currently being fostered in Utah. If you might be interested in giving him a home, please be sure you have an application in with us at www.swairedalerescue.org and let us know.
