Here's what the humans have to say about me:
It’s been an interesting year for me and my family. Back in the spring, because things were going badly at our home, Mama and our boy and I all had to leave the house in a hurry. We took only what we were wearing and headed north, to Mama’s sister’s house. When we got to New York, it was decided that I couldn’t fit in Sister’s small home with all the people who live there, so I went to boarding and then ultimately to foster care with The Animal Support Project. The hope had been that Mama would be able to find a job and a place to live where I could join her and the boy. Did I say, by the way, how much I love that boy?
Well, months later, Mama’s still not found a decent job and just recently, she had to go for surgery because her heart’s not working right. So reluctantly, she asked The Animal Support Project to find me a new home where I can finally settle down and start over. As you can imagine, the boy and I are pretty discouraged about the way things are turning out. I wish I could let the boy know that I’ll be ok. I want him to be strong for Mama so the two of them can take care of each other. But now, when he comes to visit me in foster care, he seems like someone punched all the wind out of him. I feel like that sometimes, too; but I’m not going to let anyone know. I need to keep smiling to help them get through this challenging time.
I’m Hunter, a 6 year old Lab-mix neutered male dog. I have been well cared for and much loved all my life, at least by Mama and the boy. But Dad didn’t always treat me well, so please forgive me if I am a bit head shy. As I get more familiar with you I will warm up and you’ll find me to be quite a fun-loving fellow who even enjoys a kiss and a cuddle now and then.
Microchipped, up to date on shots, housebroken, and perhaps a little protective, my foster folks say I should make a good pet for an adult home. I can watch over the house while you’re at work and keep you company at night, while you’re doing your chores. I’m doing well in my foster home with several other dogs and even a cat.
If you have been looking for a friend who will smile for you when you’re feeling discouraged and help you get through even the toughest times, maybe you’d like to meet me. Call Hunter:
