Here's what the humans have to say about me:
PERFECT AND DELIGHTFUL!!! Is the best way to describe this beautiful girl. Maddie is probably around 1 ½ to 2 yrs old, has absolutely NO ISSUES that can be found and would be a fabulous pet for an active family. Here’s her very sad story with a happy ending. During the hottest part of the summer her foster mom saw Maddie wandering the street and hanging around the parking lot at her workplace. Maddie was very pitiful looking, being malnourished with ribs and bones sticking out, having hardly any hair, smelling horrible and scratching miserably. Maddie was not trusting and totally opposed to accepting any food or being coaxed with treats to come, she just backed away and barked every time. So her foster mom just left food and ice water on the steps at work to be sure she had something. This went on for around 2 weeks—Maddie being spotted but refusing to accept anything unless it was thrown to her from the car window. After following Maddie in a car one day through the neighborhood, mom saw her go to a house but no one was home. So later she went back and found a lady who said Maddie had been dumped out and had been hanging around for about a month. The lady said she had been feeding her and allowing her to sleep under a shed so Maddie came back there. But she already had 11 dogs and was on a fixed income and could not keep Maddie. At that point, Maddie’s mom knew she must help this poor girl. The lady said it had taken her about a week for Maddie to come to her but assured mom that she could catch her and when she did would call. A couple days later, that’s exactly what happened and Maddie was JOYFULLY RESCUED from her miserable life. She had skin and health issues due to neglect, however, with much love and care she has made a recovery and as stated before, this girl is almost perfect for everything she has been through. There are pictures of Maddie that were taken before she recovered and she does not look like the same dog. She has gone from being an underweight 37 lbs with hardly any hair to a healthy 48 lbs with a beautiful coat. Maddie has absolutely no behavior issues that have been found (maybe a little digging sometimes). Everything is positive about her. She loves everyone and never meets a stranger now. She gets along very well with other dogs and cats. She is very playful, affectionate and obedient—always comes when she is called. Maddie came in leash trained, crate trained and house trained—she goes to the door when she wants out and lets you know when she wants back inside. She LOVES sleeping on the couch and on the bed but has no problem with sleeping in her crate either. Maddie adores car rides and is always ready to go. She is very smart and catches on quickly and has recently learned to catch her treats in the air when they are tossed to her. She is almost to the point of learning how to open the door herself by jumping up and pulling the door handle down with her paw. One of the cutest things Maddie does when she is so happy to see you is SMILE—wags her tail, shows her teeth and smiles!! This is an amazing girl and anyone would be so fortunate and blessed to have her as a member of their family. She is very much loved and adored in her foster home but really needs to have a FOREVER home of her own. Maddie is fully vetted and ready and waiting for her perfect family!!! (AE)
