My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Duke! Duke is a handsome Black Labrador Retriever born in 2004. He weighs approximately 75 pounds.

Duke's family describes him as a very active clown who is affectionate and loyal with family and is friendly with visitors. He is good with women and men. Duke is very sweet, attentive dog who likes routine. Three of his favorite things: Attention, physical activity and toys to carry around in his mouth!

Duke has lived with children of all ages and does well with them. He might get a little excited when playing 'fetch' and get grabby with his toy if he isn't made to wait. As with most big dogs who don't realize their size, it is important to watch him with smaller, unstable-on-their-feet, younger children. Duke gets along well with other dogs and cats.

Duke can be a little on the vocal side but he's working on being quieter. A verbal reprimand can remind him to use his “inside voice”!

Duke was diagnosed with a torn left hind cruciate ligament and is on restricted activity at this time. He does require a home with a fenced yard. Duke really loves the attention of his family and being a part of a 'pack'. His current family is unable to provide that for him at this time and feel that he deserves to be in a home with a family who can lavish him with all the love and attention he deserves.
