Carson is a sweet and happy, playful dog. He is still growing and is very much still a puppy who needs guidance, exercise and training. He is a bit unsure and needs a strong owner to make sure he builds his confidence and understands who is in charge. He loves attention from his person and likes to stay by their side. He takes treats very gently, knows sit and down commands. He is crate trained. His favorite thing to do is chew on sticks but plays well with toys too. He walks well on a leash and enjoys being outside as well as in the home. He is easy to groom and does not mind nail trimming. Carson still needs proper socialization with other dogs as he still is shy and not confident when meeting new furry friends. He would benefit, as any puppy would, from attending a training class. He had demodex mange, which is not contagious, but has recovered and he is showing no signs of it now.

September 12, 2012 Update
Since Carson went to his new foster home he is now frisky and eating well. He is quite a hunter and loves the back yard. He and Molly, his foster sister, now take on the job of keeping Mr. Squirrel off the bird feeder and they do an excellent job of that. He is going in and out through the doggie door with ease and seems to really enjoy the freedom of coming and going as he likes. Our grandson is coming over every weekend to spend some time with Carson and Carson gets excited every time he sees him. They play fetch and watch movies together and have long talks. : ) we really enjoy Carson. He is very sweet and the cat, Katy has taken a liking to him and they cuddle when Katy wants to. Spydee cat is anti-social to everyone so he leaves her alone and so does he. Carson has taken a couple of dips in the pond and he seems to like it. What a great dog he is - we sure will miss him when he goes...but he is READY for his FOREVER home this time!!

Update 10/17/2012
Carson was returned to us from an adopter who took him as a puppy. She was very nervous and due to her lack of confidence and faith in her dog she put fear in him and he was unreliable around people he didn't know.

Once he came to my house it took about 2 days to work thru this issue. He is now confident and fine with people he doesn’t know. He barks alert, but once they are welcomed in the yard he is all ready to play and get attention. No aggression at all. He likes to have a toy in his mouth most of the time and walks around with the toy talking about how happy his is with seeing you and wanting to play. He gets along with other dogs, but at times tries to keep his human to himself, but with correction he stops this behavior and is accepting that he is just one in the pack and must share.

He is housetrained, crate trained and doesn’t bother things not his. Loves toys, almost anything will do and attaches to stick and things he finds in the yard. Carson is a delightful sweet boy but will require a strong leader so should go to home with older children or adults who have experience with the breed.
