My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Harley is almost 2 and is a Black Lab. Harley is a very amusing dog and would suit someone who is dog savvy, athletic, has a great sense of humour and loves an "in your pocket" kind of dog. Harley does have some issues such as being easily excitable, leash frustration and being competitive with other household pets. He is currently being trained and is working on these issues. He loves training and is very responsive.

Harley loves to go running and swimming but also loves to hang out by your side while you work on the computer or in the yard. Harley is about 80 pounds so for his build I think a runner who likes to run regularly on trails for about 15km is enough for him.

He loves my female dog Nikita (Siberian Husky) and they are the same age. She is a very assertive dog and doesn't let him push her around. He is also very respectful of my female 12y.o. Luna (Husky/Shep) but she is also very assertive and will quickly put him in place if he gets pushy with her. He is very competitive and pushy with my 2.5 y.o. male lab. He should have a home with no indoor cats and no other young male dogs. He is great with a confident female dog.

He knows several commands now such as; sit, down, stay, wait, come, leave-it, away, no. While out running off-leash he always comes back to me and will be the first one back. If he is off-leash he is good with stable dogs who are also off-leash. If I see a dog on-leash then I will leash him up as usually the dog on-leash has some issues i.e. shy, aggressive, fearful, etc and he will react to that. He loves learning and has a goofy, amiable personality. He is a joker and makes me laugh several times a day. His new owner will need a good sense of humour. No uptight neurotic people for him! I believe his only vice is his leash reactivity and pushiness with resident animals.

We have been to the dog park several times and he has a blast. I watch him like a hawk and if he seems to be getting pushy with any dogs (mounting or head over neck) I stop him and he listens well. There have been no altercations at the dog park and he has met at least 100 other dogs there. I did leave with him one time as there was a dominant pushy dog there and they seemed to be aggravating each other and play fighting that had the look to go more serious.
