Here's what the humans have to say about me:
CRICKET - ID# A008555 IN FOSTER CARE 7/19/2007
CRICKET is a male, Red Miniature Pinscher. The shelter thinks Cricket was about 2 months old when he arrived on July 5, 2007. Pups need LOTS of time, patience, and love. If you have all 3, come visit Cricket. He is sweet, but needs all the regular puppy training. Read below for the training assistance we offer with all shelter dogs. No children under the age of 6 years in the household please.
Miniature Pinscher Breed Comments:
Unfortunately, some people who added a Miniature Pinscher to their family were not ready for such a breed. Miniature Pinschers are classified into the category of toy dogs because of the size. However, their attitude and their self-perception is the one of a big dog. Vigorous exercise requirements can turn out to be unsuitable for some families. If the Miniature Pinscher is not exercised enough, it tends to get bored and no one wants to deal with the destructiveness of this breed. Miniature Pinschers can be aggressive toward other animals. They have a strong chasing instinct. They are also barkers.
The Miniature Pinscher needs a confident owner who is determined to spend much time training the pet. If owners feel they are no longer able to meet the demands of the dog, they tend to surrender it.
If you want to adopt a Miniature Pinscher, you should be well informed on the breed. The adoption of a rescue dog is a noble step. However, it should be a thoroughly planned decision. Adding a dog to your family is likely to change your life style and the lives of the members in your family.
Starting the adoption process you need to be 18 years or older, complete an application http://www.petprojectfoundation.org/dogadoption.pdf, be interviewed and it is strongly recommend all members of your household and any dogs you have at home must be brought in to socialize with the dog you wish to adopt in our play yard, to make the best match for everyone, and be able to verify with your landlord that you may have a pet if you are renting. Understand we reserve the right to deny the adoption of any pet for any reason. Also any additional requirements for the specific pet you are interested in adopting needs to be met. We adopt to the best home, not necessarily the first application turned in.
Applications are only accepted by FAX (949-366-4765), mail or in person. Sorry, no applications through the Internet.
Dog adoptions are $100 and include a microchip, spay or neuter, current shots, flea treatment if required, "New Owner" folder packed full of helpful information, and one free basic health examination within 5 days of adoption from a veterinarian on our list.
