My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

No, It’s not Halloween, and I’m not masquerading as Alice Cooper. I’m Salty. A purebred Westhighland White Terrier. And what looks like makeup on my eyes is really damaged skin from my previous life of neglect. My Mama had Bailey and me from the time we were pups. And for many years, she kept us pretty nice. But then Mama lost her job and things started spiraling out of control. Mama ran out of money so she couldn’t afford to take us to the vet anymore. Then we lost our home and we had to go live with strangers. Those people didn’t understand that little dogs can’t live forever in a basement.

After living in the damp darkness for some time, I developed an infection in my eyes that caused my fur to fall away. But that’s all in the past now. Mama found out about the Animal Support Project and she called them for help. They brought us to a nice foster home where we’re getting good food, grooming, veterinary care and lots of outdoor exercise. Now, with the infection gone, the fur is actually growing back around my eyes . The Doc says soon, I won’t look like Alice Cooper anymore. And then maybe people will stop pitying me.

You see, pity is something I don’t need. Because at 12 and a half years of age, I’ve got the world on a string now. I’m frisky and friendly, and I love all sorts of dogs and people. I’ve got a future ahead with kids to play with and walks in the park and cats & chipmunks to chase and yards to patrol. I’m neutered and up to date on shots, microchipped and housebroken. So I know it’s just a matter of time till someone recognizes a quality mature dawg like me and offers me their home to share.

Do you wish for a fluffy companion who really knows the value of friendship? Let’s take a nice walk and make some plans! 518-727-8591
