Meet Benji! He is about 2 yrs old (as of 7/15) and looks like a border terrier, wheaten terrier and sheepdog mix! :-) Of course, this is just a guess.
Benji weighs about 39 lbs and is a total sweetheart. He has such an adorable, scruffy, fuzzy face. He possesses a very sociable and affectionate nature and is thrilled to get attention and love. Benji is quite the cuddle-bug and he LOVES bellyrubs. He gets along really well with the resident dogs and other foster dog, and even got a "grumpy" dog to play with him; he displays excellent play and social skills. Favorite activities include playing with other dogs, and then crashing for a good snooze. When I am working on my computer, he just lays peacefully at my feet or on a nearby couch. Benji knows some basic commands such as "sit". He is very tolerant with grooming, such as clipping his nails; he just lays there calmly. :-)
Benji visited Petsmart and was good with the kids he met; he was happy to let all of them pet him. He spent a couple of days with my 12 year old niece and was totally in love with her. He can be a bit demanding with wanting attention (lots of nudging), however, this is easily addressed via obedience (having him sit calmly before any petting is bestowed upon him). He was a huge hit at the vet, meeting and lapping up the attention from the vets and vet techs. He also made friends with a visiting landscaper. :-) Benji LOVES going for walks, and does need some more work on leash training (he pulls when excited or "on-scent"). He does not guard food or toys. He is house trained in a home with either access to a fenced yard or regular trips outside. Benji is just a great dog!
Benji has had some limited testing with a cat, and no aggressive behavior was seen.
Benji was given up by his owner in rural Kentucky. The person who had him felt she couldn't give him enough exercise. She had returned to school and was working full time.

PLEASE NOTE: WHEN YOU EMAIL TO INQUIRE ABOUT BENJI BE SURE TO INCLUDE YOUR LOCATION IN YOUR EMAIL, AND PLEASE TELL US ABOUT YOUR FAMILY/LIFESTYLE, YARD, SCHEDULE, DOG EXPERIENCE, ETC. IN THAT INITIAL EMAIL INQUIRY. WE ONLY RESPOND TO EMAILS THAT INCLUDE THIS INFORMATION.
If there are children in the family that is applying to adopt, they must be over 7 years old due to Benji's exuberance. He would do best with a physically active/fit family and ideally, a fenced yard.
Benji is neutered, up to date on routine vaccinations, heartworm negative, and crate trained. He is on heartworm preventative and frontline.
Fuzzy Face Rescue's adoption process includes an adoption application, reference checks and a home visit. We will only adopt to people who are located within 90 minutes driving distance from the 06371 zip code. Exceptions are occasionally made if I have a good rescue friend who lives nearby your location who'd be able to complete the home visit (NY, NJ, VT, NH, ME, RI) Please email us at scruffafluffrescue@gmail.com for an application if you are interested in adopting Benji!
Benji is being fostered in Lyme CT.
NOTE that if you use yahoo or AOL (or any other email other than gmail), email may end up in your spam box, so check it frequently if you have inquired on or applied for Benji. This has happened repeatedly to applicants when I send the application to them; the applicants think that I have not responded, when in fact my email to them has ended up in spam.
PLEASE ALSO NOTE: Just to be clear, even though Benji has the rough/wiry coat of a border terrier, and sheds very, very little, we cannot be certain nor can we guarantee that he is hypoallergenic.
