Gilligan is a 15 month old boxer/pit bull mix who was rescued from the Hartford Animal Shelter. He is still looking for a forever home that is the right fit. Although his former adopters (who are wonderful people!) have nothing but good things to say about him, he has shown some pushy behavior with younger children and so would be a better fit for a home with children fourteen and up. Gilligan would be a great dog for those who have an active lifestyle and enjoy going on walks, jogs, or hikes. He loves to be challenged mentally as well, and we believe he would like being given a "job" (an activity like agility, nose work, etc). Gilligan has lived with other dogs, both male and female, in his foster home, but he prefers to spend his time with the people in the house. He can be placed in a home with other dogs, but we believe he would love the attention of being an only pup. He loves cuddling on the couch with his humans. As an active and intelligent dog, Gilligan needs a forever family that can show strong leadership and establish clear rules for him to follow. In return you will have a friend for life! Gilligan is neutered and up to date on all his shots. He knows basic obedience commands, and walks nicely on his easy walk harness. He is house trained and crate trained.
