SPECIAL NEEDS BEAGLE GIRL IN DESPERATE NEED
UPDATE: We are happy to announce that Janie has found a new forever home with one of our friends at Welcome Waggin Dog Rescue! Our wonderful rescue colleage has opened her home and her heart and took Janie into her life and Janie has already been making progress. She has slowly but surely been coming out of her cage and has just recently gone on her first walk. We are so thankful to all of those who had offered to take Janie into their homes as well and encourage you to also consider one of the many other beagles who need a home. Please support our friends at Welcome Waggin' Rescue if you are interested in another canine breed. http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/CA384.html
Janie is one of those special beagles that comes along rarely but is in need of an even more rare human being that can provide for her what she needs to hopefully become a happy and confident beagle girl.
Janie was a breeder. We don't how she was treated nor what her living conditions were like. All we know is that whatever happened to her has traumatized her severely - she lives in so much fear it breaks our hearts every day to watch her like this. Janie simply will not come out of her crate except to do her business and sneak a peak every so often. As soon as Janie sees another human, she goes back into her crate and shakes with fear.
We at Beagle Rescue are always faced with the harsh reality that not all of our beagles in need can be saved. Oftentimes, a beagle has aggression problems or very severe health problems will come along and we have to make the decision whether or not a particular dog is adoptable. If a dog is considered not adoptable, then the worse ensues and we are all heartbroken. With little Janie, this has been a very hard decision. We don't know if that very special human will ever come along. Janie lives in fear and is clearly suffering on an emotional level. However, she is sweet, adorable, healthy and young. We just can't give up on her - not just yet. For this reason, we are making a plea to anyone who has the time, energy, and most of all patience to give this beagle girl a second chance. This special human will need to give her time to get used to her new surroundings, which should be calm with little activity. It will be understood that Janie is not a beagle who will play or go for walks. Janie will stay in her crate and you will never know she is there. But our hope is that with time, Janie will sense that her new environment is a safe one and will begin to venture out and learn to trust her new owner and eventually get that tail out from between her legs and start wagging.
All of us at Beagle Rescue have had the wonderful opportunity to have met some of the most incredible people in California and beyond who have given our precious beagles the best homes we could have ever hoped for. We are so grateful to all of you. We know that there is another very special one out there who is just waiting to bring this very special girl into their lives and make Janie happy. We can't wait to meet you!
If you believe you are that special human Janie so desperately needs, please contact John or Sue.
