Otto is a 2 year old male pit bull mix who weighs 60 pounds. He's got a gorgeous chocolate brown coat and gets compliments on how handsome he is everywhere he goes. Otto came to us from an overcrowded shelter where he'd been found as a stray. When we got him he was skinny, unhealthy, and very shy. In the last few months Otto has grown in foster care to be a fantastic dog. He's now at a healthy weight and looking at him you'd never know anything was previously wrong. He's a happy dog who always has a smile on his face. Otto loves his people and is a total snuggle bug. He likes to be as close to you as possible and is definitely a kisser. He bonds very strongly to the people he loves.
Otto gets along wonderfully with other dogs and loves to play! His foster mom has 4 other dogs and everyone plays together nicely. He's never met a dog he didn't like. As much as he enjoys to play, he also knows when it's time to relax. In his foster home he knows play time is outside only and when it's time to come in, he plops down on a bed and is happy to occupy himself with a stuffed toy or take a nap. Otto loves pretty much any kind of toys and will play fetch fairly well. He loves to swim and gets to go to the lake with other dogs frequently.
Since coming to live in his foster home, Otto has learned all of his basic obedience including sit, down, stay, come, and heel. He's very easy to walk and will stay right at your side. He's been to training classes and works well even with distractions around him. Otto is house broken and used to being crated when no one is home. He loves his crate and has no problems being in there even for long periods of time.
The ideal home for Otto would be people with dog experience who will continue the training he's learned so that he can be an excellent ambassador of his breed. Since he still has moments of shyness, we'd prefer he go to an adult only home. He would love to have a fenced yard and another young dog to play with. Most importantly, Otto is looking for a home with someone who will love him and make him feel safe in new situations. Whoever gets to adopt this dog will be extremely lucky, he's going to make some new family very happy.
