Here's what the humans have to say about me:
King---German Shepherd Dog---Male---5 months---
King is a gorgeous 5 month old purebred black & red German Shepherd Dog that was found tied up to a fence a few weeks ago by some good Samaritans who took him home and, first tried to find his owner and then tried to give him a good life. They tried to make it work but they have a small apartment and a pitbull already as well as 2 small children as they just couldn’t do it while taking care of 2 young kids and working full time. The pitbull and King got along really well and played great together. King did live for the last few weeks with a few small children, 3 & 5 years of age and he was very good with the small children. King is scheduled to visit the vet on Thursday to be neutered and brought up to date with his shots as well as dewormed and microchipped. Thus far, when given some exercise---a nice walk around the block---King chills and relaxes in his crate and is very quiet as he sprawls out and rests. He goes right into his crate and has no opposition to the crate. All that said, King is a 4-5 month old puppy and will require many months of consistent and caring training to make him into an amazing canine good citizen.
The people who surrendered King to me told me he wasn’t housebroken but I have had him for awhile already and with walks every 3-4 hours and crate training in between, King does hold his stuff and has gone pee-pee and caca outside every time we have taken a bathroom brake as he is being rewarded with over the top pee-pee & caca parties. King is still very young with his adult teeth just starting to come thru and a few of his baby teeth still present. King so far has been a quiet dog and has gotten along with all dogs so far and cats as well. He does seem to have an interest in birds but nothing out of the norm. He didn’t know any commands but is a very quick learner and has already begun to learn sit, down & come. He is a very sweet and loving dog and has been a joy to be around. I would recommend crate training him and starting to train King as soon as he is adopted. He is not a crazy puppy that is full of unbridled energy. He is a calm and collective canine. King is probably gonna end up weighing between 80-100 pounds. He has huge paws that he is growing into currently. He has a good appetite and has no issues with taking his food or taking chicken bones out of his mouth that he scoops up off the streets. He has been very amenable thus far and has been a joy to have. He does like to paw his water bowl and spill it so a bowl he can’t tip and filling it a third of the way helps him minimize his mess. He is quickly learning not to do that and not a big issue. It’s a learned behavior I suspect that can be retrained easily.
King is neutered, dewormed, treated to prevent fleas & ticks and is up to date with all his vaccinations. His adoption fee is $300.00 and he'll get one free exam at one our participating vet's offices and will be microchipped. If you'd like to adopt King, please email us at charleshendersonanimalrescue@gmail.com. Charles Henderson Animal Rescue is open every day from 12pm to 7pm. King is an awesome & young pure bred German Shepherd that needs a great owner. Will you be that person or family?
