Cayos owner has moved in to an apartment where large dogs are not allowed.
Cayo originally came to Ontario a few months ago from Belize! He has lived on a farm, in a house in the city and most previous an apartment. He is happiest in a house with a fenced yard or large property area. Cayo is your typical big breed pup, bouncy, energetic and friendly. He will need a strong but kind and patient owner committed to continuing his training, he knows some basic commands and walks well with a gentle leader, it would be wonderful if his new family could take him for a few obedience lessons. Cayo is house trained and does best when on a regular routine, he can be left for about 4-5hours at a time, he is crate trained as well but his previous owner had been confining him to a limited area of the house rather than crate after the move in to a small apartment. Cayo is a typical 6 month old pup and tends to look for things to keep him occupied around the house if you leave him out unattended so he should be crated or confined to an area where he can’t get in to mischief when left alone. Cayo has not been around cats so a home without felines is preferred. Cayo gets along well with other large dogs, he is too big and bouncy for smaller dogs and may accidentally injure one trying to play. He is sometimes vocal on walks when he sees other dogs, he gets excited and eager to play. A quick greeting usually entertains his curiosity and excitement soon passes once he has said hello to other canines. In his previous home he did live with another dog, we’d love to see Cayo in a home with another large dog or with someone that can continue to socialize on walks and at the park, though friendly he could be more quiet and polite when meeting other dogs. Cayo has been around older children but has not been around small kids, we prefer a home with no children under 6yrs due to his big puppy exuberance. This happy go lucky, outgoing and energetic puppy would be a great jogging or hiking pal. He LOVES car rides and would be happy to join his family at the cottage, beach or going camping. Cayo also LOVES his ball! He is good at playing fetch but will also entertain himself when you put a few snacks in the ball. He is young and eager to please so furthering his training should be easy for his new family. He loves a good daily walk and the more exercise he gets outdoors be it jogging, playing at the park or chasing his ball in the yard, the calmer and easier going he is when indoors. Cayo has had a great start and is going to be big boy, possibly 80lbs or more so he will need a his new family commit to continuing to train and socialize this big pup. He is sure to grow to be a handsome, smart and friendly dog with the right loving family. Cayo is such a suck, even the vet loved him and Cayo quickly forgave the vet for neutering him (laugh) and rolled over for belly rubs and attention when it came time to have his stitches out. This gentle giant is eagerly waiting for a stable, active home. Cayo is best suited to a more mature home and a house with a fenced yard. No cats, no small kids under 6yrs and no apartments please.
