My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Cassie is a 3 year old black and tan dapple smooth female dachshund. Cassie is a sweet, fun little girl! She enjoys playing and interacting with the dogs in her foster home and when you talk to her in a happy voice, she just wiggles her little rear end with glee! You can't help but smile when you see this little dog! She needs some work with her housetraining skills, but her foster family is working diligently in this area and we are confident she will show steady improvement. Cassie is a black and tan dapple, with very pronounced dapple markings. She is definitely ONE-OF-A-KIND!

Cassie was signed over by a family who stated that they needed to get rid of her because "ran out the front door and got away all the time" and also that she "made messes in the house". Cassie had received all her current vet work by the owner, with the exception of microchipping, which was taken care of by our rescue program. The owner, despite showing responsibility for getting vet work done on this dog, failed at the most important responsibility of all--which is to understand that a dog is your responsibility for its lifetime -- and not something to "get rid of" when it is no longer fun or convenient. The owner failed to take responsibilty to properly train - and love - Cassie.
