Here's what the humans have to say about me:
June 20, 2012
As mentioned previously, Maxy got neutered the end of May and recovered just fine. He's back running around the yard with Kody and is learning to wrestle with him in the house. He did figure out how to use the doggy door while he had his floppy cone on during his recovery. Don't know how he managed to get through the door with that on.
He has been progressing with his learning to sit, stay, wait, down, etc. Some days he does better with our practice sessions than other days, just like most dogs. I figure that since he's had four years going around doing his own thing, it won't be overnight that he learns what he's supposed to do and not do. But he's such a lovable goofy boy.
Maxy got his second and last series of vaccinations today. Talked to the vet about his issue of nibbling on his feet and legs and scratching some places on his body. He has no red spots or rashes. We decided after much discussion that it is probably seasonal allergies and not food allergy as he does his scratching and nibbling mostly after he gets in from outside. It helps some to wash off his feet before he comes in from outside. The vet suggested we try an antihistamine for a few days to see if that helps which we will start tonight. He doesn't seem too bothered with his itching and he sleeps through the night without much waking up to scratch or nibble on himself.
Over the weekend, Maxy spent some time with my 5 year old granddaughter, her dog and cat. Maxy gets along great with kids and loves the attention he gets from them. Can't say he enjoyed the cat though. The cat hissed and swatted him in the face the minute he stepped in the house but he just backed up and ignored the cat the rest of the night.
Maxy will make some family a great companion as he is great with children, dogs, and cats. Not sure about toddlers as he is rather big and can be a little exuberant at times. He'd like someone who will love on him giving him belly rubs and brushing his fur which he loves. Any attention at all is fine with him.

Maxy came into rescue three weeks ago. He is a 4 year old handsome boy with the sweetest face and personality.
We have been learning a lot about Maxy since he's been here, having found out he could use some tweaking on a few manners. There are also a couple of things that he may never have been taught that we are working on like sit, stay, etc. Fortunately he was house trained when he came into rescue and he has a great recall when you call his name. He is learning to use the crate (has his two daily meals there) and doesn't complain. I don't leave him in the crate when gone as he is very good in the house with my two dogs. He's been left as long as 9 hours with no problem.
Maxy appears to have a low to medium activity level. He doesn't seem interested in toys but that could be because he has not been exposed to them before. My border collie, Sam, plays with toys inside and outside so maybe eventually Maxy will pick up on how fun toys are.
He was just neutered last week so he has to have minimum activity until he heals which should be in another week. Poor Maxy wants to run and play with my dog, Kody, but he's stuck on a leash for a few more days.
Maxy is always interested in what I'm doing and where I'm at. He prefers to lay fairly close to me, but will venture into another room to lay down for a little while. And while laying close by, a good belly rub is something he really enjoys. His favorite position is laying on his back with his feet in the air.
We are presently working on leash walking, sit, leave it, and other fun things. When I tell him "good boy" for something he's done correctly, he looks up at you with this big smile on his face and ears laid back that can really melt you.
We're still getting to know Maxy, so come back to his website later to read further updates.
Maxy is being fostered in Indiana.
