Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Coal completed our spring class session in May. He is a black lab retriever mix, approximately 52lbs and is still looking for a forever home. Unfortunately his first adoptive home didn’t work out, and he was returned to us after the first week. We have been searching for a suitable home ever since.
Coal came from Young-Williams Animal Shelter, is about a year+ old and is a very smart dog. He is a very handsome, playful guy who loves toys, all people big and small, and other dogs. The teens worked with him on basic obedience and he is a fast learner. He is a young lab so he gets distracted easily to start, but when the kids kept his attention he stayed very focused on the task or lesson we were teaching. We feel he may do well with a “job” to challenge him.
He is an active dog who needs room to run, long walks, lots of activity and love. He has been vet-checked, neutered, micro-chipped, up-to-date on his shots, and on heartworm preventative, plus completed basic obedience training. He would definitely benefit from additional training. He can climb a chain-link fence so he’ll need solid fencing. He has demonstrated some destructive behavior when left alone in a crate for long periods of time so we’d love to find an active family that can spend lots of time with him.
A word from Coal: “If you can provide a good home for me and meet all of the human requirements, please contact my friends at HALT asap. I would love to be part of a family where I’m loved and not left alone. I would also love to have a dog playmate as I get along really well with other dogs. I promise to love you in return and be a great companion for you.”
