My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

In three years, I have seen a lot. I watch from my vantage point here on my chain, day after day. The family comes and goes, friends and neighbors stop by and visit the home, and once in awhile, someone will come over to talk with me. I was brought to this home by a well-meaning young girl who wanted to rescue me. But young girls don’t have time for big, strong dogs like me. So eventually, I found myself tethered out here on the chain. My family built me a solid house where I nap during the day, and at night, they are kind enough to bring me indoors to sleep in the garage. But because I’m big and playful, they don’t want to bring me into the house. It’s ok, I understand. I’m a lot of dog, part German Shepherd, part Malamute, still young: just three years old. So the outdoors is where I like to be. But if I could share the outdoors with a person, my life would be complete.

Have you ever smelled the moss at night? The pine needles after a rain? The warm earth in the afternoon sun? Can you hear the sound of the birds calling just before dark and tell me their names? Would you like to run in the moonlight and chase the shadows with me? If you let me, I can show you where all the most wonderful places are and share my love of nature with you.

I’m Jacob. 90lbs of true, deep soul, neutered, microchipped and up to date on my vaccines. I know how to sit for treats and want to learn so much more. And because I am so smart, it won’t take long for me to prove what a treasured friend I can be. I’ll bark to let you know when company arrives and I’ll watch over you like a loyal soldier. As a hiking partner, you will find me a first class guide and companion, ready to go anywhere, as long as it’s with you.
