Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Mystique was found in someones garage, and taken to the Animal Rescue League. She was very pretty and looked scared so the Catworks decided to take her. She was very thin. Then she got a very bad upper respiratory infection. I had to force feed her and give her subcutaneous fluids along with an antibiotic for about ten days before she started eating on her own. After she was feeling better I started trying to clean her up some. After picking some stuck litter out of the hair on tail I ran my hand down the length of her tail to see if I had gotten it all off. That's when I discovered that her tail was broken in two places. The breaks seemed like they were old, but very bad. One looked like a sapling twig that someone snapped and it split open only on one side and was still attached.
The vet visit that ensued did indeed confirm she needed to have her tail amputated. The tail from the second break to the tip was in fact dead. After the surgery the vet said it looked like someone had put a rubber-band around her tail and that's what did that the damage to that part of the tail.
Since her tail has been removed she actually seems like she feels much better. She began moving around much more, and eating and drinking extremely well. She has stitches that have to stay in for two weeks. She has to wear the e-collar because she incessantly licks at them if it's off. I'm hoping after all of this trauma she can learn to trust people, and become comfortable with them. She is a very special girl that we feel deserved a second chance.
We are looking for donations in her name to help pay her medical bills. Please visit our website or stop by one of our adoption days to help. Mystique and the Catworks thanks you!
