Here's what the humans have to say about me:
June 3, 2012
Bodie (pronounced Beau-dee) is a sweet, somewhat timid and submissive, 3 month old purebred border collie puppy. He loves to play with toys. Will amuse himself endlessly with any kind of toy, tossing balls and rolling around with stuffed toys. He is pretty much all black, with white chest markings and a small white showing aound his nose and on his chin. He is growing into 4 strong long legs and is going to be a very handsome border collie.
He is such an easy puppy. He has not had an accident in the house since he has been here. He goes into his crate without any fuss, and rides well in the car in a crate. Does bark in the crate if he goes in and you leave the house. We are using kongs with treats to ease this. We are working heavily on socializing. He is timid meeting new people, but goes along and does warm up nicely. He loves to wrestle and tumble around with one of my female border collies, so would do well with a dog partner that is confident and loves to play.
We have a fully fenced yard, and since it has been cooler we leave the patio door open, so he loves to be in the backyard, takes toys out and lies on the patio. So a home with a fenced yard is going to be important. He isn’t left outside by himself but does love to roam around and sit in the shade with toys.
He is being socialized around some children and we have noticed that toddlers overwhelm him. So a home with older children would be better for him.
We are a house of Frisbee and ball. He does have some drive, he will chase Frisbee rollers, brings them back and flops on his back for a belly rub. Will chase balls, brings some of them back, but gets distracted with typical puppy stuff, butterflies and sticks.
He is going to need an experienced dog home, since he is going to need ongoing socializing and puppy classes. Needs very soft positive handling. He needs patience when going to new places, but no coddling just patient persistence that he can handle the new situation.
As far as energy level, he would be considered a low to medium energy border collie. He does show the typical puppy zoomies once in a while, but is not over the top busy. He will make a great companion dog, loves to be with his person, and play with those toys.
