Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I found a new home! Plenty of my friends are looking for one too. Check out other pets at this shelter, or start a new search.

Please be mindful that some of the photos and videos of dogs are taken when they are new to the rescue. They have just been spayed/neutered, often do not feel good, and have just come from the shelter. In addition, they do not like having their photos taken. The personalities of all of the dogs DO eventually come out, but please make allowances for photos/videos that often do not depict the full potential and personality of any of the dogs within the rescue.
Poppy is a 1.5 year old female Beagle-Chihuahua mix (Cheagle) who was rescued from the Devore Animal Shelter. She is a dainty little girl at only 9 lbs and has beautiful tri-color markings. Poppy is potty-trained and uses the doggie door at her foster home. She likes to spend time with the other girl foster dog and they can often be found snuggling in the same dog bed together.
Poppy is a little shy at first with new people but then she warms up and loves to give kisses. She has an inner joy that spreads to others. When her people get home she wags her tail so hard that her whole body shakes. At dinner time she gets excited and does a cute dance. Poppy is food motivated and learns best when given treats and praise. She is learning basic commands and how to walk on a leash. She is a sweet and calm dog who rarely barks and does not chew on things that are not hers. She plays nicely with other dogs and likes to cuddle with her people.
Poppy can be placed in a home with another dog to be a calm companion, or be an only dog. She should be fine with children as long as they are very gentle. She will not appreciate quick moments towards her by way of rowdy kids or overly energetic dogs. If she had her choice, she would pick a quieter home over a louder one.
Poppy is spayed, de-wormed, vaccinated including rabies, and micro-chipped. If you are interested in Poppy, please contact Janet Cook of the Angel’s Heart Dog Rescue at: adopt@angelsheartdogrescue.com or call 626-340-9316.
