Arrival Story: Lolly was found living under a John Deere tractor with her running buddy, Daisy. The family who found them tried to find their homes but could not, so they took both dogs to the shelter.
Age / Weight: One and one-half years old (approx.) and 19 pounds. Lolly has the long legs of a min-pin and the long face & body of a dachshund. Her ears sometimes have a mind of their own and stand up straight or turn down. Occasionally they are not at the same time!
Personality Description: It is obvious that Lolly has had a rough start in her life and this is making her transition to a normal loving home a little challenging. Currently, she is getting along with the dogs in the home, but has no interest in playing with them. She is much more a people person. However, she does get worried when they are close to her new found friend - her foster mom. We are working on her manners and to build her confidence, but this will be an ongoing commitment. Because she is a little leary of new things and fast movements, she will need a home without small children. Lolly really wants to be a good girl, but her past sometimes gets in the way. She is cute, in a silly way, and has a lot of spunk - she hops like a bunny when she is excited. Please read the profile of her friend, Daisy as their personalities are very similar. Both dogs have a lot of love to give, but need a family with guidance, patience and a willingness to work on their ongoing training.
Ideal Forever Home: At this time we think she would do better in a home without small children (they seem to frighten her) and a fenced-in yard is a must. She likes to bird watch -- okay, bird chase -- and that could get her into trouble without a fence.
