My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi everybody. My name is Rosie and I think the reason they named me the Pawsonality of the Month is because I'm what my foster mom calls a “tough cookie.” At first that doesn't sound like a compliment, but it really is. Part of what makes me a “tough cookie” is that even though some sad things have happened to me, I continue to be a happy, fun-loving girl. I used to live with an older couple who loved me very much and I loved them too. But then they had to move to a place where I couldn't come along and I came to MWCR. Some dogs would have gotten all glum and moody, but not me – I continue to look on the bright side of things. I'm in a safe place, with people who care for me and with other dogs to play with.

I like to make the best of every situation. Here at my foster home, I try to be a good house guest by not causing my foster mom any trouble or extra work. I'm completely house trained, I don't chew on things, I come when I'm called and even though I don't much care for brushing, I let my foster mom do it because it seems to be important to her. We don't have any little kids here, but I'm very gentle, so if my forever home had little ones, I wouldn't jump up on them or scare them. I like to take my foster mom for a walk now and then, and she returns the favor by taking me for a ride in the car sometimes. It's fun. One thing I don't like is lots of stairs and being left alone.

Another reason foster mom calls me a “tough cookie” is because even though I'm not a puppy any more, I bounced right back from my vet experience. First, I had to have lots of work done to my teeth. They pulled some of them and they did stuff to my gums – ouch! Then, when I was just feeling good again, I went back and they did something called a spay and hernia repair. Again – ouch! Still, in no time at all, I was my usual cheerful, playful self again. Foster mom says I have to have my teeth checked regularly, but I'm not worried 'cause I'm tough.

You might think that being a “tough cookie,” I would be mean and grouchy with the other dogs, but you would be wrong. I'm very tolerant of the dogs here, even when they give me a little attitude. I must admit though, I did lose my temper when a cranky little dog came to visit us. This little upstart began by barking at me and ended by biting me! Well, I may be tough, but I'm not stupid. I put that little guy right on his back and held him there until he apologized. I'm willing to take some sass, but when necessary, I'm also willing to put my paw down!

Well, that's me – Rosie. I guess you can see why foster mom calls me “tough,” but don't forget, she also calls me “cookie.” So if you are looking for a collie who can come through adversity with a bounce and a wag, I guess I'm your dog. And if you also want a collie who is gentle, calm, loving and sweet, well I guess that me too!
