Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Desmo comes to The Empty Shelter Project as an owner surrender. Here is what his family has to say about him.
Hi, my name is Desmo Dog. I am a 4 year old labrador, pyrenean mountain dog mix. I had a DNA test a few years ago and I'm also a tad poodle. I look mostly like a lab. Some people think I'm part pit but it's not true. I just have a stubby nose. I am a great companion... a GREAT companion. I am full of love and happiness and my parents love me very much.
I am very well trained and behaved. I can sit, stay, shake, fetch, drop and more all on command. I am very well crate trained. I love to lay in my crate when it has my comfy bed in it and can hangout there while you're gone with no problems. I also have a lot of energy when I go to the dog park. If I am outside, I'll spend my time lounging in the shade. I want to be where you are. If you are outside, bring me. If you're going in, I'll follow you. Once we're close, I'll lay down and lounge around. I only eat my food. I don't eat people food and I've never had it, which keeps me from being a fatty. I don't beg for scraps. I don't bark very much. If someone rings the doorbell or walks by the window too close, I may bark to alert you of a stranger, but that's it. I also love other dogs. I am very playful and when I first meet another dog, it is best if we are in a big yard so we can run around. I should be introduced slowly even though I am so excited. I'll jump on the other dogs and they may not like that. At the dog park, I will run up and meet everyone. I love going to the dog park and getting all wet. I am 100 miles an hour until I can't do it any longer. If you have a ball, I will play with it all day. I want you to throw it for me.
You may be asking if I'm such a good dog, why am I up for adoption? Well, my parents and I live in a tiny 300 sqft apartment and they just had a baby boy. I love him very much but it is very cramped in here and with the new baby, I am getting less and less attention. My mom and dad have a hard time getting me the exercise I need. My energy is too much for this small space. With no chance of moving anytime soon, it is the best idea for all of us.
You should know that I need to be with a family that does not have small children. I am fine with kids who are older. Sometimes toddlers don't understand that I don't like to be pulled, tugged, or backed into a corner. Also, when you aren't home, you should put me in my crate. If you don't, I'll do some counter surfing and find some yummy treats like those fresh cookies or pie you just baked. I do it because I miss you so very much.
So if you are up for a companion, I'm your guy. I'm a great buddy and my parents are very, very sad that I have to go. They have had me since the beginning and I will be missed. I have had all my shots, I have flea and heartworm medicine, a fresh supply of my favorite food (Science Diet, sensitive stomach...because my stomach IS sensitive), all my medical records, a crate, a big fluffy memory foam bed, leash, Gentle Leader, Coolaroo hammock for the yard, leather collar, and more. Please be a wonderful family for me. My parents really want me in a great home.
