My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

A Christmas miracle you say? Well Halle looks fine, what could possibly be such a miracle about Halle? We received a request to take Halle (formerly Precious from the Philly ACCT) last weekend. We were told Halle had a broken leg that would require an amputation. We worked very quickly to find an appropriate foster home to place Halle in for recovery. Then Tuesday morning as Halle was supposed to be in for surgery we received a call that it was recommended Halle be euthenized because they found another break in her other leg and felt it would be very hard for her to recover. We asked if they could allow us to make some phone calls before we decided and they did agree. We worked quickly and when we spoke to Dr. Hodges at Valley Central he felt from the information we had that Halle's leg did not need to be amputated. Dr. Hodges reviewed the x-rays from Animal Control and spoke directly to the shelter in regards to her legs being savable. We spoke to Dr. Hodges again and he felt it was best to try and save her leg so he has agreed to do her surgery and to not only help us save her LIFE but to give her a life with as much quality as possible. It is truly amazing how quickly we were able to work together to ensure Halle's safety and quality of life. Halle is one of the sweetest, goofiest puppies you could meet! She is about 4-6 months old and has not let a single of her broken bones slow her down. She loves everyone she meets and is so full of life, Halle being euthenized would be a terrible tragedy. We are so thankful to Dr. Hodges as well as Halle's very loving foster family for helping us to make this possible for 1 very sweet puppy. We know not only will Halle's Christmas be a very special one to celebrate but her foster family as well as all of LCPO will be blessed to have Halle in our lives, she is one very special girl! Halle Update: Halle went into her surgery with Dr. Hodges this afternoon, 12.8.2011. Halle's broken ankle is splinted and Dr. Hodges did spend 2 hours performing surgery on her other leg which has a broken shoulder and elbow (in simple terms). Unfortunately after 2 hours the post operative x rays showed her leg was not repaired due to a large amount of scar tissue. Dr. Hodges feels there is still hope for saving her leg so she will be staying with him and his staff and going back in for surgery on Monday. Please keep her in your prayers and thoughts, she is a very strong girl who has endured a lot of pain and we hope she can keep her leg. We will love her regardless of course! She is being kept comfortable with some pain meds and hanging with the staff for the weekend. We will post updates on her as we have them, she is a very special little girl! Halle Update: Halle had another surgery today, 12.14.2011 and all has gone very well! Halle will be able to keep her leg and is coming home to her foster home tomorrow, 12.15.2011. We are forever grateful to Dr. Hodges for all he has done to help Halle, she is a very resilient, special little girl! Update: 12.26.2011 Halle had her cast/bandage removed as well as the staples. She is doing wonderfully and will be starting physical therapy in her foster home. Halle is growing like a weed and is one of the happiest girls around!
