My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Update 07/12/12: Milo is Normal & Healthy!!!!! No more meds, and on to normal food!!!!!

Milo's adoption fee will be $500

Update 06/03/12: Milo is doing very well & is off of one medication & will be weened off of the other starting this Thurs. He will be seeing Dr. Teunisson between the end of June & first part of July. At this time, I should find out if Milo's blood work comes back in normal range. If so, he will be able to start a regular maintainous puppy diet.

I am very optimistic, and so is Milo's surgeon, that he will be able to be on normal food & live a healthy, long life!

UPDATE 5/23/12: Hi everyone...Milo here!!

I have some GREAT news!! Dr. Tuenissen, the doctor who did my Liver Shunt surgery, said my liver biopsies came back all NORMAL!!! I had a very simple shunt to close off and all else looks SUPER!

I am going to see him on Wed. the 30th to have my sutures removed, and boy does that make me HAPPY!!! I want to run, jump, and play again...I'm going CRAZY with all this energy I have!

Milo's FM here! Dr. Tuenissen also said, that on the 30th, he is going to take Milo off of the Keppra, and if he is doing well, then 2 weeks later he will take him off of the Metronidazole...then the Lactulose.

If all has been going well being off all of the medications, just after the 4th of July, I'll be able to start weening Milo off of the prescription K/D food, onto a good Normal doggie diet!!! I cried when he told me that Milo could be healthy puppy with a long life ahead of him!!!

I will post an update after Milo has his sutures removed.

Update 05/17/12: Milo's surgery went very well! He has what is called a Left Gastric to Azygos Vein Shunt. Not the normal PSS, but very common. The vein was nice and large and an Ameroid Constrictor was used, because when the vein is large and accessible that was the best method to use. Milo's liver is a good size and so are his other portal veins. Also, everything else looked nice and healthy. He was also neutered, so he is done with surgeries.

New update coming soon!!

Update 05/01/12: Hi all! Milo is still spunky as ever. My other pups are finally getting used to him bouncing on top of them. He's also become a groomer...he likes to make sure everyone has clean ears and eyes, and most of the crew will let him do that.

Since Milo has been with me, I have found out how much he loves children. The neighbor children are 7.5 yrs and 12 years old, and when they see us outside, with the dogs, they rush right over. Milo is jumping up into their arms as soon as they come through the gate!

He also seems to need another dog as a play companion, and to cuddle with. He is so loving and snuggly. When he had his vet visit, he was very curious about the BIG dogs, but was not afraid. He also heard a cat meow, and his ears perked right up. The cat was in a crate, so he couldn't see her, but I have a feeling he would be fine with cats.

I took Milo walking a few days back...at first he wanted nothing to do with it, but then he decided it wasn't so bad. The harness is an xxs, and is still too big for him, but I made it work. He did really well...I was proud of him!!

Milo also Loves to be brushed...legs, feet, face...it doesn't matter!

Milo and I will be having a consultation on May 14th to talk to the surgeon about his Liver Shunt surgery. I will post an update after that.

Update 04/22/12: Hey everyone!! Just a little bit more about me, that I thought you'd like. :-)

I Love to play fetch, and I play it very well! I even let you know, by throwing the toy at your feet!! I will sit for a "crumb" of a treat...because of my liver shunt, FM won't give me more than a morsel the size of the tip of a Very Sharp pencil!! But that's just fine with me...

I am getting a little better at letting FM know I need to go out, and I am also using the potty pad...sometimes...but that's a start!

I Love to be brushed, after I'm done first trying to grab the brush. I had my first bath yesterday, and did really good! I really like the dryer, it feels so warm! Well I see my doctor on April 25th, so check back a day or two after that for a new update.

WAGS! Milo

Update 4/12/12: Milo hasn't had any surgery, as of yet. Tests were run yesterday to determine if he has a shunt, and which type. There are 3 types.

He is currently on meds and a prescription diet and is doing great...even gained 3/4 pounds so he weighs 4.1#. The vet said he should be 5#. Milo is just 4 months old, is spunky, feisty, and smart! He Loves to PLAY!! That's his job everyday, to get all the dogs to play with him! :-)

Keep checking back on the "Looking for Love" site for updates.

Update 04/05/12: Milo here...and I'm at my FM's house in Sheboygan, WI.

I might have a Liver Shunt, so FM made an appointment to have me checked out at a special special clinic that knows all about this. I am going on April 11th. So when I find out, I will let you know.

Right now, I am on a special diet, and special medications, just to be safe.

I am such a spunky little guy, of about 3 lbs. I am so Handsome, or cute as everyone else says! I LOVE to play with toys and all the other dogs my FM has. She is so happy to have a puppy in the house again...she missed all the clowning we puppies do!! hehehe

We are working on housetraining (I'm learning), and commands. When FM says "sit", I lay down, close...but I guess not right. :-)

I'm a really good eater, and sleeper, and I can fly up and down stairs with ease. After I play too much, I snuggle in one of the many beds, and sleep for a couple of hours. I will sleep with you all night, if you want, but the best and safest place for me, since I'm little, is in the crate, that FM has. I whimper because I want to be with you, but FM doesn't want me to have separation anxiety issues later on.

I need to wait until all my tests are done, and surgery, if needed, before I can be adopted. FM will post updates on my progress.

Wags!

Milo

4/1/12 Milo was surrendered to an emergency clinic with a suspected liver shunt condition. His condition was stabilized and he was released to United Yorkie Rescue. Milo will require a portogram prior to surgery which we hope to schedule in two weeks. Please watch for further updates on Milo.

Bio and pics coming soon...stay tuned!
