Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I found a new home! Plenty of my friends are looking for one too. Check out other pets at this shelter, or start a new search.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Sam is a classic copper toned purebred Golden Retriever with the most endearing smile. His foster mom and dad say:
Sam is a big teddy bear, around 7-8 years old. He wags his tail all the time and is very friendly and sociable with people and other dogs as well. Sam loves to cuddle. If you are lounging on the floor, he will come up to you for a rub and gently sit in your lap. He lays his head on your knee for you to rub his ears. He likes to roll over on his side and beg for belly rubs.
Sam loves soft toys and carries them around, two at a time in his mouth. He enjoys chewing a biscuit out of his red rubber Kong toy bone. He sits for treats when asked and takes them gently from your hand. Sam is not super ball motivated. he doesn't seem to have a high prey drive, although he was fascinated by the guinea pigs at Petsmart! We don't know how he is with cats yet.
Sam is has good manners and is completely housebroken. "Of course I am!' He stays off of the furniture, unless you invite him up to cuddle. Sam also want you to know that he was just diagnosed "low thyroid" by a GRFR vet. As you may know, hypothyroid is a common condition in Goldens, and humans too. So, like many of us humans, Sam now takes one small pill twice a day. Like so many Goldens, Sam gets itchy skin that sometimes leads to "hot spots" caused by allergies. Sam currently takes two pills a day to control his allergies. Sam is very proud to tell you that already he is down to just over 77 lbs from his intake weight of 94.6 lbs. His goal weight is around 70 lbs. Wouldn't it be great if we humans could be so successful in that department!!
We're really proud of Sam! He is so patient, brave and stoic and has a wonderful calm and steady Golden temperament. Sam knows his basic commands. He loves his daily walks and walks well on leash with you. He will benefit greatly from those daily walks as he gets back to his ideal weight -- just in time for swim suit season. Sam also loves the winter snow, making sideways snow angels, and happily plowing through drifts up to his shoulders. All good!!
He is a sweet, gentle boy and loves to be by your side. He will make a good buddy for your other dog or be happy getting all of your attention himself, as your solo Golden. Sam is ready to be your devoted companion! To learn more about sharing your life and your love with a sweetheart like Sam, apply today and our volunteers will be in touch. Sam will be ready for cuddles when you meet!
