Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Samoyed. 3 years old. Male. 60 pounds. Medium-High Activity Level.
Ziggy came to us from a Kansas county shelter. He was owner-surrendered because the owner did not have time for him, and he would get into mischief when bored. He has lived primarily as outdoor dog, which is not the norm for a Samoyed since they prefer to be with their family, whether they are indoors or outdoors! His coat condition (before his day at the spa) reflected his prior outdoor living style, and poor nutrition, as it was sunburned, matted, and terribly dry.
Ziggy is an incredibly sweet boy. He enjoys placing his head in your lap and having his ears massaged. He desperately wants to please, and responds very well to direction. He knows the command sit. He has a gentle mouth when accepting treats (very food motivated)! He rides very well in an dog crate in the car. He tugs on the leash when walked, but does not pull you down the block! He tolerated a marathon (5 hours) grooming session of bathing, dried by a powerful dog dryer (initially was concerned about it, but eventually accepted it), and sadly hours of combing out massive mats. He never once showed any aggression or mouthed the groomer's hand. He gave kisses instead.
Since he is recently neutered and was primarily an outdoor dog in his prior life, it is unknown about his house training status, but given his desire to please, he would respond to housetraining quickly.
He plays well with other Samoyed females but it is unknown how he would respond to males or other breeds. He did not shown any aggression to the other dogs in the kennel when walking past their dog runs. He is good with cats.
Ziggy deserves a family that will enjoy training him and spending quality time with him to unlock his full potential. He is a youthful, energetic male, that would love to go on long walks, jogging or hiking! He is true treasure and very handsome boy!
