Dexter is a very outgoing young dog (a little over a year old) who appears to be a Rat Terrier /Border Collie mix. Because of his age he is is very energetic and must be encouraged to keep all four feet on the ground. Dexter has one of the best temperaments his fostermom has ever seen. Most of the other dogs in the house-hold are handicapped or elderly, so they tend to be grumpy, and Dexter has taken their frequent reprimands with extremely good humor. He does not appear to be food aggressive, but some of the dogs in his foster home are, so he eats in his crate and also spends the night there; the rest of the time Dexter has supervised house privileges. Dexter is crate and leash trained as well as housebroken and is beginning to use a doggie door. He likes to play with other dogs, but likes to aggravate (ie "bother")cats. He loves children, but is too energetic for smaller kids. Dexter loves to play with toys and is not at all destructive with them. Dexter would do well in an active family or with someone who likes long walks, running, or riding bikes. He is an absolutely outstanding companion. Dexter should take a beginner obedience class to bring out the excellence of his mind, since he is a very smart dog. He already has good recall and wants nothing more than to make his people happy. Dexter has a slight case of demodex (non-contagious mange) around his eyes that is being treated. To see more pictures of Dexter, please
