Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Spike! Spike is a 7-8 year old Miniature Pinscher found at the East side shelter. Despite his friendly and calm demeanor, he was scheduled to be euthanized for a very minor medical issue - cloudy eyes and mild vision loss! Many hearts broke as he sat there day after day -- friendly and hopeful - yet passed by (see his shelter pic). His luck changed, however, when a wonderful group called M.A.I.N (Medical Animals In Need)arrived on the scene. I couldn't wait to foster this great boy, and after some visits to the vet, he is in excellent working order and ready to find his forever home.
Spike is an amazing and lovable boy! He is open and friendly to everyone. He is so content sleeping next to you on the sofa, or following you around as you tend to your garden. He is calm and happy, with NO destructive tendencies whatsoever. No chewing, no excessive barking, and no puppy craziness. He is a well-behaved little man. Like most min pins, he is very smart and curious; you couldn't ask for a cuter or more loyal friend. He is great with other dogs, and he is excellent with our guinea pigs. He also appears to be cat friendly!
Spike weighs in at 12 pounds but is small and compact. His tail is docked and his coat is shiny and short -- no shedding! He is fully housebroken and will sleep all night in his crate, but loves to cuddle up in bed with his people or sleep with the other furry foster friends. He eats 3/4 - 1 cup of dog food a day and will sit for a treat. His vision is very good -- I was happily surprised to see that he gets around my home with no issues at all. Spike will continue to require eye drops or artificial tears. He sits very still for the drops (with a small treat in wait) and the whole process takes all of 15 seconds.
His adoption fee is $75 and includes his 4 in 1 (dhpp vaccine), rabies vaccine, bordatella vaccine, county license & neuter, along with a 1 month supply of his eye drops. If you feel that you can offer Spike all the love and care that he deserves, please consider this wonderful addition to your family.
