What does that mean? I am currently located in Texas but once I find a new home, I will come to the MD, VA, DC area for my adoption.
I’m MacTavish and I’m a male, dark salt & pepper Miniature Schnauzer with cropped ears and a docked tail. I’m about five years old and I weigh about eighteen pounds. I’m a little timid at first around new people but I warm up fast and I am super friendly! I will use the crate if you carry me there (I don’t like it enough to go there on my own!) but I am house trained. I am a little nervous at first about being outside. I’m afraid you’ll leave me out there too long. Once outside I do my business, play a little but then I’m looking to make sure you are ready to let me back inside to be with you! I know several commands and keep excellent watch for my human friends. I’m not aggressive but I am a little strong willed. I think that will pass with time. My foster mom notices big improvements in me in short periods of time and she says I’m just “a great little guy”! A little love and patience does wonders. I’m good with most other dogs and I can go to a home with or without another four-legged friend to play with. I would like to be in a home where people are around most of the time. It’s that love and patience thing again. You won’t be disappointed. I’m a cuddle bug and honestly, who needs more than that?! MacTavish's owner must be willing to take him through a basic dog obedience class and provide proof of completion within four months of the adoption. Proof of enrollment in a dog obedience is required before/at the adoption. If you would like to be considered to adopt MacTavish, you must first apply. Then please contact linda@schnauzerrescue.net. If you've already applied, please contact linda@schnauzerrescue.net to be added to the list of those being considered. To apply on-line, please go to our website http://www.schnauzerrescue.net and click on the on-line application.
Rescue Schnauzers usually weigh between 15-25 pounds, they are up to date on shots, heartworm tested and spayed or neutered prior to placement. We make reasonable efforts to evaluate the health and temperament of each dog, however we cannot make any guarantees. We are not a shelter and do not have a central facility. All dogs are kept in foster homes located throughout the area we cover.
PLEASE NOTE: We rescue schnauzers in Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Washington DC and southern Pennsylvania. We can only accept applications within a reasonable driving distance of our areas of coverage. Please read the list at the top of the on-line application to see if you are in our area. For a rescue contact in other areas, please go to our website http://www.schnauzerrescue.net and click on Rescue Links. We have a need for volunteers in Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Our website also features lots of great information about the rescue process, book reviews and training tips - plus the best schnauzer items for purchase! All proceeds benefit schnauzers in need. Thanks for your support!
