Here's what the humans have to say about me:
The best way to describe Joey is a doll-baby! He's a super loving and affectionate black lab/pit bull mix approximately 4-5 months old and now probably about 20+lbs. He's got white paws and a white strip down his chest. He has a small notch missing out of his tongue at the front. As far as myself and the vet could figure, he might have tried to eat something sharp when he was lost or something might have bit it. It's pretty small though and hardly noticeable, but it's just a unique little part of him now :) He's a very calm little guy and besides laying across your lap and cuddling (which is his all-time favorite way to pass time!), he loves to play with toys (ropes and stuffys with squeaky sounds are his favorite!). He doesn't really fetch- he thinks it's his job to protect the ball once he's gotten it :o) He is super friendly and playful with other dogs. I've had him around a dozen or so and he thinks every dog is his new best friend, so I have to be careful of what dogs I let him go up to. He really is looking for someone to love and be loved by. He's very attentive to his owner and likes to be near you or held by you. He's just gotten pretty good with stairs, up and down, but slippery stair-cases make him nervous. He's very smart and already knows sit, lie down and shake :) He comes when called for the most part, even if it might be a little slow-start at first lol. He does give an alert-bark when there's someone at the door a couple times, but has never barked or growled or showed any signs of aggression at a person at all. I haven't seen him interact with cats but for a short minute, and during that time he was fine, but can't say otherwise. He likes to come inside to be with you and will follow you around like a shadow and will just listen as long as you talk to him. When I first got him and he was still in shock or when he gets scared I found that the sound of my voice calms him down quickly. He also loves running around outside and playing keep-away with toys from the other dogs, so I think he would do best with a yard or at least someone who will take him on long walks daily. He's super trusting as well, and will let you hold him upside down in your arms and play with his feet/legs. He likes to go on walks, and I take him frequently because he does need bathroom trips often, although he has never used the bathroom in the house. When he has to go the bathroom he usually paces around the house or whines by the door. I have no idea how he learned to do this because I did not teach him! Smart boy!!! I used a leash/collar when outside but he will stay right by you and follow you even if you're not holding it. He likes little kids as well and will mosey on along after them to play. He's been on multiple car rides with me and sits in the front seat with a blanket and will sprawl out and usually go to sleep. He does best if he's cool with the AC on and has his favorite toy with him. When I was at a friends with him, Joey stayed in a crate at night, and although he doesn't love it and will whine a bit, after a while he does really well and even started liking his little routine. While I had to keep him in one at night I gave him a blanket and a stuffy and he still has those items with him at the shelter.
