My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Can you guess what breed I am?  We think there's some Rottweiler in our genes, but what else?  No, really, your guess is as good as ours. Probably better, even. The Food-Bringer thinks there might be some Mastiff, hound, or some pit-bull type dog in us.

We're sweet and busy boys that were born on January 19th.  Our mommy wasn’t thrilled about being a mommy and was mean to us. When we were just four days old my five brothers and I went to live with a wonderful foster family where The Food Bringer bottle fed us every few hours to help us grow big and strong. We started out very small, but we would put pigs at the trough to shame and are now HUGE boys; at 8 weeks we’ve already tipped the scales past 16 pounds! My forever family needs to be prepared for a dog that will likely weigh 90-130 lbs. Everything I need, like a crate, bed, collars (I want as many collars as The Food Bringer’s dog has!), toys, chews, food, food and more food will probably cost a lot since I’m such a big boy! Did I mention that we would put pigs to shame?

Yes, I’m adorable, but I want a family that can see past all of my cute and will work hard to learn about who I am and how to help me be a great dog. I hope that my family will respect me and attend to my needs as a baby puppy, through my adolescence, and all the way into my golden years. I’m going to need great socialization opportunities all throughout the week and I would like to be learn good manners so that I can make you proud every day. As part of my adoption, you will need to take me to a puppy class that has curriculum covering bite inhibition, body handling, socialization, off-leash playtime with friends my age, good house manners, and basic obedience training.

Even though my mommy didn’t want me I’m still a lucky boy because my foster parents have worked really hard to give me and my brothers a fabulous beginning! Our brains are already 50% developed, so the last 8 weeks have been full of important things happening to/for us. So far we have:

  • been exposed to LOTS of people and kids, foster family dogs, cats, noises (like: trains, racecar engines without mufflers, vacuums, drills, jazz, Frank Zappa, and sludge metal), footings, toys, household activities, being bathed, having our nails trimmed, being touched all over, and having our pictures taken.
  • learned to use a potty area and keep our sleeping and playing area clean, but we’re ready to learn to use a yard.
  • discovered how tasty and satisfying stuffed Kongs, antlers, bully sticks, and Himalayan chews are for chewing, but we still need help learning not to chew shoes, furniture, rugs, wires, and other inappropriate things.
  • taken several car rides to be poked, prodded, and fawned over by lots of strange people.

We’ve had a great start, but we still need lots more time with strangers, children, new places and things to walk on, learning to solve problems, and learning how to be a great dog.

If you think you’re the right person for me you should apply to adopt me, I’d love to go home with you!

p.s. did I mention that The Food Bringer’s husband is a photographer who has been working on a project based on our life and would love to make a portrait of you and me in my new home?
