Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This special little girl is a courtesy listing for our friends in rescue. This group works tirelessly to find homes for unwanted and abandoned dogs...if you would like to adopt this precious baby, please contact them at kesalerno@gmail.com.
OK, if you are a sucker for a sad story get ready. Tetra, a 2-3 year old Min Pin mix, was found at the bottom of a dog pile. She was trying to get at a food bowl that was too high and the other dogs were attacking this tiny 12 lb. baby for trying to eat and drink. A volunteer grabbed this little girl and brought her immediately to the animal hospital where is was not only found that she was heartworm positive, but that she had mange. Her mange is being treated successfully (it is sarcoptic, which comes from mites and is not recurring once treatment is completed) and her hair is already growing back. Her heartworm test came up a light positive, which is perfectly treatable as well and her treatment began on 3/26. She will be rechecked at 5 weeks from that date and if necessary, will be given another shot at that time. Most dogs that we've dealt with do not require that follow-up treatment, though, as the initial shot did its job. She did not have any symptoms of heartworm infection, as it was in its early stages. Heartworm infection is exceedingly common and, thankfully, we have the means to treat it. All that she will require in the future is a monthly dose of Heartgard, just like every other dog. She will be available May 4th. She's really bounced right back and has experienced absolutely no health problems.
Tetra is as sweet as can be...she loves people and has shown a thorough appreciation for other dogs and cats, as well. When this little girl is ready to go, we want her in the arms of someone who will spoil her rotten and let her know that she needs never starve, hurt, and be cold ever again. If you want to take this little love bug home when she has been fixed up, please send us an application!
