My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We would like to explain that if you are looking for a perfect dog, they are rarely found in rescue. Our dogs often have unknown histories and we do our very best to evaluate each dog with kids, cats, and other dogs as well as determine how they behave in a home. It is important to understand that we have some specific criteria for each dog based on their backgrounds and input from their foster families. The purpose of these criteria is to better match each dog with an appropriate family. While a certain dog might appeal to you based on breed, size, gender or appearance, you may not match the listed criteria. Please understand that we are not trying to make adoption difficult—we are trying to make each adoption successful for the dog and the new family.

If you have children, we suggest that prior to applying for a dog, you view the website http://www.livingwithkidsanddogs.com. The information is excellent and can help you determine which dog would be right for your family.

Miley is a darling morkie (yorkie-maltese) who was born on July 26, 2011 and is near her full weight of 5 pounds. She looks much bigger because she has "big hair!" Her family purchased her at a pet store and then learned that it wasn't good for her being crated for their long work days. Miley has a wonderful personality--she is bouncy outside, loves to play with toys, and is great with other small dogs and cats. Miley just has a sparkle in her eye and she loves life. She is also a champion snuggler and will cuddle up in the crook of your arm or slide under the covers to be close to you at night. Miley is doing well with her housetraining when she is taken out on a schedule but she isn't perfect yet. She is just a precious darling little girl who due to her small size should live with very gentle kids at least 10 years. NO YOUNGER KIDS NOW OR EVER!!!! Miley is now completely up to date on all vetting and she is spayed. Her $500 adoption fee is to cover the cost of her spay, vaccines, heartworm pills, worming and HomeAgain microchip.

To ensure that this dog thrives in his new home and that the adoption works out for the dog and your family, these are the requirements for adoption. These criteria are not negotiable. If you do not meet these criteria, please choose another dog that will work out better for your family.

• Homeowners: Strongly preferred

• Fenced yard: Strongly preferred as she loves to play outside
