My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Picture this: on the morning of February 1st, a call came in on our emergency line from the owner of Darling's Pub. He had discovered a kitten trapped in the bottom of the restaurant's grease barrel, had managed to pull her out, and placed her in a cardboard box for safekeeping... or so he thought. The next time he checked, the kitten was gone, and that's when the Hide and Seek game began.

The kitten, whom we now call Darling, moved from her hiding place in some thick bushes to under a neighbor's porch to a hole behind a wall leading into a store basement and back to the bushes... with Moore Humane Society staff, store customers and bystanders all in hot pursuit.

Eventually, Darling was surrounded and brought to safety... no easy feat given the slipperiness of her coat! At the Shelter she was vaccinated, given a much needed bath, and fed what was probably her first meal in quite some time! Exhausted, traumatized, but with a full belly, she finally fell asleep, safe at last!

After several more baths and lots of tender loving care from staff and volunteers, Darling is making an amazing recovery. She is learning to trust her caregivers, responding to their gentle touch, rolling onto her back for belly rubs!
