My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Age: 7 years

Weight: 7 lbs

Watson is 7-year-old Shih Tzu that weighs approximately 7 pounds.   While he might be small in stature he has a very big personality that is as big as a great dane and mastiff combined!    He’s funny, adorable, bossy, playful, silly, stubborn, snuggly, and loving by turns or all at the same time.   In short a typical Shih Tzu!  He loves his toys and his favorite is a stuffed bunny, which is bigger than he is.  When he is excited he does a bouncy little growly dance that needs to be seen as it can’t really be described.

Watson has been in his foster home for just about a year because he is a special needs dog for about 10 minutes a day.   After  Watson was rescued from the kill shelter we discovered that sometime,  he has trouble going to the bathroom on his own.  He can pee just fine and absolutely normally but because his little rear end has issues sometimes you need to manually express his stool.  He is not incontinent but the exact opposite of that.  However, it is not strictly constipation because it is a lack of proper muscles and extreme tightness of his anal aperture to properly expel the waste from his body.  As the vet said, "he's just not structurally normal back there...his little sphincter is like a taut rubber band". There is no cure or operation that can correct this permanently but it can be managed through the proper diet (a very high quality food with lots of moisture that does not produce much waste) and a little help from his friends.

While this might all sound extremely unpleasant and horrible it is not really that bad.  For the other 23 hours and 50 minutes of the day he is as normal a dog as you could imagine.  We will give you tons of help and advice.  Watson is an amazing and loving little guy and he is absolutely worth this little bit of extra work.   We hope that someone will take a chance on him and be rewarded with the biggest little dog with a huge heart full of love.

Adoption fee is $200.
