Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I found a new home! Plenty of my friends are looking for one too. Check out other pets at this shelter, or start a new search.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Car is a very loving, gentle unneutered male dog who we believe to be a GSD/Lab-mix. Car finds himself at the shelter through no fault of his own. His owner had to move and left him in the care of relatives who could no longer care for him. Thus, he finds himself at the shelter. This boy has an awesome temperament and we are shocked that he hasn't been snatched up before now. Car does great with other dogs and did find during his recent cat test. He very much enjoys human company/attention and is just one "laid back kinda guy". We wonder if Car might not make a great therapy dog given his low-key nature. We would like to thank Frederica Georgia of www.fredericageorgia.com for the fabulous pictures of Car and other ACAC animals. .
The shelter does not have the ability to heartworm testing, deworming or vaccinations on-site; however, for reputable rescues, local volunteer assistance is available for transport to a local Vet clinic for such testing and to obtain appropriate vaccines and Health Certificate at the rescue's expense.
In order to pull animals from Ashe County Animal Control, rescues must be approved by the Lead ACO. The approval process involves submitting an application, available by emailing fabulousmcg@gmail.com or calling the shelter directly. As part of the application, rescues will need to submit copies of their adoption application, adoption contract and 501c3. Rescues will also need to provide a Vet Reference.
