Here's what the humans have to say about me:
If Tallulah could speak, she would have quite a story to tell. A friend of mine discovered Tallulah and her five puppies living in the wild, Tallulah having dug out a rather elaborate burrow under the roots of a tree in an effort to provide shelter for her babies. Tallulah's puppies have been adopted, and now she herself is looking for a forever home. When she arrived at my shelter, she was very wary of humans, and did not like to be touched. Since then, she has made enormous progress, and is starting to enjoy getting her rightful share of affection, and can walk on a leash with a little patience. Tallulah is a solid black beauty, who resembles a cross between a Sheltie and a German Shepherd. She is about three years old, and weighs about 30 pounds. She gets along extremely well with other dogs, and is on her way to becoming the perfect house dog. She is very well mannered, goes willingly into her crate, and is probably more or less housebroken by now. The biggest change in Tallulah has been in her relationship to humans...in less than a month, she has gone from a fearful and very shy dog to one who now is starting to jump up on the gate to greet me when I come in the yard, and is developing an endearing habit of waving her paws in the air as a greeting. Like many dogs who come from difficult backgrounds, Tallulah is showing signs of becoming an exceptionally joyful dog once she is in a loving and caring environment. She will probably never be an outgoing social butterfly of a dog, but would be a wonderful addition to a calm household without young children, and preferably with a fenced yard. She would probably do well in an apartment or condo (or RV!) as well. Tallulah's adoption fee is $150, and includes up to date vaccines, negative heartworm test and current prevention, spay, and microchip.
