Here's what the humans have to say about me:
06/09/2012 - ADOPTED!
05/03/12 UPDATE:
Foster dad called me a social butterfly today. I looked it up online and I think he's right. I love being where the action is, meeting new people and making people happy.
Take tonight for example. We went for a walk and to be honest, it was really boring. Really, really boring. There wasn't anything going on in the neighborhood. It was a ghost town. But as I was trudging along, I spotted two people getting out of a car. I saw my shot and took it. I quickly walked towards them. People always smile and laugh when they see me and this couple was no different. I think it's my adorable face and great personality...I'm irresistible. Really, I am. I dare you to meet me and disagree.
Anyway, foster mom told them about me while the lady scratched my neck. Then they said they wish they had some treats for me! They talked for a few more minutes, wished me luck and said their goodbyes. I wasn't quite ready to leave, though. What about these treats? I stopped dead in my tracks by their car and refused to budge. Hey, if they didn't have treats they could at least give me a ride home! Foster mom and dad tried their best to get me to walk but it didn't work. Foster mom had to push me from behind to make me move. This made the couple laugh even more! I could hear them laughing and yelling bye to me as we walked towards home.
That's when foster dad said I'm a big social butterfly.

Hi, my name is Rose. I have the wisdom and gentleness of an older gal with the heart of a youngster. My favorite things are hanging out at doggie daycare, getting my neck scratched and being part of a family. I love being around other dogs and understand when it’s time to play and when it’s time to be gentle. One of my friends at daycare is a small puppy and we like to play tug of war together! At the same time, I am respectful of the 14 year old dog in my foster home who likes to keep to herself. But, there is nothing that makes me happier than being part of the family. I always want to be near my people and in the middle of whatever is going on at the moment. I don't care if it's making dinner, watching t.v., working in the yard or reading a book....I love being near my people and the action.
I’m very well mannered around the house. I’m fully house trained and not destructive, although I do like getting in the trash if it’s not covered. I don’t sit on furniture as long as I have a nice soft place to sit (I love my foam bed!). I’m quiet except when I bark to alert my people when someone is in the yard. I love having visitors and don’t bark or jump on them. I spend a few minutes saying hi to each person and then sit down and relax.
I’m also well mannered outside the house. I walk well on a regular leash and rarely pull. I’m so good on a leash that my foster mom can walk me and my foster sister at the same time. I enjoy a relaxing 30 minute walk so I can smell the roses. Almost everyone we see stops to tell me I’m a beautiful girl! I’ve even had little kids stop to pet me and give me big kisses on the head. I like going for car rides and sit very quietly. If you have an SUV or truck, I’ll need a little help getting in with a ramp or just a little boost.
Some other little bits of information about me… I do best in a routine when I know what’s expected of me. When I was settling into my new routine, I followed foster sister so I would know what to do. If I don’t know what is happening, I tend to get stubborn and have to be coaxed with encouraging words or treats. While I love playing with other dogs, I don’t have much interest in balls and other toys. I’d rather spend that time getting my neck scratched by my people. I take a daily joint supplement to give my hips some extra protection.
My ideal family: Has someone who is home most of the day or is willing to have a dog walker stop by while they’re at work. Since I’m an older gal, I can’t make it through a full work day without a break. I’d like to live with a friendly dog that likes to play but understands nap time is important, too. If you don’t have another dog, I’d really like to go to doggie daycare a couple days a week. I also need a home where I can be an indoor dog and part of the family. I’m really the happiest and most secure when I can be around my people and other dogs. Most importantly, my ideal home will love me forever. In return, I will be your loyal companion and love you right back.
