Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I found a new home! Plenty of my friends are looking for one too. Check out other pets at this shelter, or start a new search.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hank Williams is a 1yo Pit Bull-mix, whose breed mix may also include Pointer and/or Boxer. Hank came into the shelter as a stray but it just so happens that he comes from the neighborhood of one of our volunteers. His owner was contacted & they no longer want him. Our volunteer says that he has joined her on walks in the past and always seems very eager to please! He has lived with kids, does good with cats and has done well with other dogs. Another volunteer visited the shelter with her personal Aussie and Hank immediately went into a playbow when the Aussie approached Hank's kennel run. The video clip is from Hank's first meeting with our volunteer's personal dog (the Aussie).
Despite being in the shelter, his happy-go-lucky outlook on life continues. He had never met one of our volunteers before Saturday. He allowed her to do check teeth, lift paws and do everything we would normally do during a rescue dog evaluation. In fact, he leaned into her to encourage her to pet him and his tail wagged a mile-a-minute during it all. Hank is extremely eager to please and is currently a joyful young dog who has had no training. He would benefit greatly from some Obedience Classes so that he can learn what is expected of him and from involvement in a dog sport to allow him to burn off energy & take advantage of his athletic ability!
With his athleticism, we think Hank would make a fabulous sports dog and/or jogging partner. Thank you to Freddie of Frederica Georgia Photography (www.fredericageorgia.com) for capturing Hank's fabulous spirit and athletic nature.
The shelter does not have the ability to heartworm testing, deworming or vaccinations on-site; however, for reputable rescues, local volunteer assistance is available for transport to a local Vet clinic for such testing and to obtain appropriate vaccines and Health Certificate at the rescue's expense.
In order to pull animals from Ashe County Animal Control, rescues must be approved by the Lead ACO. The approval process involves submitting an application, available by emailing fabulousmcg@gmail.com or calling the shelter directly. As part of the application, rescues will need to submit copies of their adoption application, adoption contract and 501c3. Rescues will also need to provide a Vet Reference.
