Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I found a new home! Plenty of my friends are looking for one too. Check out other pets at this shelter, or start a new search.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Cookie is a 2yo, 15lb Terrier-mix girl who was turned in by her owner along with a deaf Boston Terrier buddy as he was no longer able to care for her, the Boston Terrier or a Chihuahua that was turned in the week before. When Cookie first came into the shelter, she was terrified and VERY protective of her deaf little friend. However, her friend was adopted and, with some gentle TLC, Cookie has "come around" in a BIG way and is VERY loving towards everyone, including the Animal Control Officers and volunteers. She is your typical Terrier mix who likes to be the alpha when around any other dog of any size. She is not aggressive to them....just wants to let them know (verbally) that she might not be so large but she is in charge. Again, if you know JRTs and other Terrier-type dogs, you will understand Miss Cookie.
The ideal adopter for Miss Cookie will be someone who is not a first time dog owner and who understands the breed. She will need slow, controlled introduction to any other dogs in her new owners' home or, better yet, have a human all to herself. After verbally telling a submissive Chow/Corgi-x gal that she is in charge, Cookie did fine with her. She has also, obviously, lived quite successfully with 2 other small dogs before so really would just need someone with patience and breed knowledge to help her be the great girl we know she can be! She has not been cat- or kid-tested. We would not recommend her for a household with children under 12yo as she would do best in a quieter home and has never lived with children.
The shelter does not have the ability to heartworm testing, deworming or vaccinations on-site; however, for reputable rescues, local volunteer assistance is available for transport to a local Vet clinic for such testing and to obtain appropriate vaccines and Health Certificate at the rescue's expense.
