Here's what the humans have to say about me:
31 lb standard size Rosie ended up in a shelter when her owner was arrested. She waited and waited but she was never reclaimed. Rosie easily passed her temperament test and was placed up for adoption. So why is she now in rescue? Well, while Rosie is a wonderful dog, she is aloof with strangers. She was passed up over and over again by people who were looking for an instant connection. (In rescue, we know that the dogs that make an instant connection with you, do so with everyone). The shelter knew she was affectionate and loving as she adored all the volunteers that she had gotten to know. They asked us to take her in the hopes that we could find her a home that would be willing to give her a little bit of time to show her love.
In her foster home, Rosie slowly started to show her personality. She is a delightfully good natured dog. In the shelter and in her foster home, Rosie has shown no interest in cats. She gets along with the other dogs and has even begun initiating play.
It seems that Rosie did not have a first home that ever took her for a walk. She was very timid at first and easily panicked on a leash. The more she gets out, the more comfortable she becomes.
Five yr old Rosie adores riding in the car. She also loves to sleep at the foot of the bed, snuggling under her own blanket. She is not the least bit food aggressive. She came to us already housebroken and she barks only to alert you to visitors. And when she occasionally whines about something, she sounds like a 5 lb dog. It’s very endearing.
Rosie needs a home that understands it may take some time for her to trust and let her personality shine. Another dog in the home would help Rosie feel more relaxed.
She enjoys hanging out in her crate, but does not like to be locked in.
Rosie has been spayed, micro chipped and current on her vaccinations. She has also been tested for heartworm (negative).
If you are interested in Rosie, please fill out an adoption application at www.scdr.org and email Yvonne at oe3von@gmail.com
The tax deductible donation for Rosie is $200.
