Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Age: 3 years old
Lily was rescued as a stray about 18 months ago by a very kind couple. They had Lily spayed and vaccinated and took her into their home. Their other dog seemed to accept Lily at the time. However, the couple just had their first child and the new arrival has upset their first dog and she has begun to pick on Lily. For Lily's sake, they need to find a new home for her. This decision is heartbreaking for the family because Lily is a great dog, but they have had the other dog much longer. :(
Here is what her rescuers say about her: Lilly is an EXCEPTIONALLY sweet and affectionate dog who makes a wonderful companion. She needs a good home where she can receive the love, attention and training she truly deserves.
She is house & crate trained, walks well on a leash and is perfect traveling in the car. She sheds very little if at all. She is a very mellow dog, but usually once a day, she becomes very playful and silly - play bowing, wagging 10,000 miles an hour, etc - daring you to chase, tug, wrestle, etc. It’s hysterical and so much fun. She is VERY affectionate with both my wife, baby and me. Almost always when I look down from my chair, Lilly is in ball lying right beside me. She LOVES being invited onto the couch and curling up beside us.
Lilly is an inside dog. I believe her mellow nature makes her well suited for even apartment living. She will bark at outside noises, but having a TV playing resolves that issue.
We feed Lilly Innova and/or Evo holistic human-grade dog food. Both are more expensive than normal dog food, but the DRAMATIC changes they noticed, specifically in her breath and coat, made that extra expense worth it to us.
I know everyone thinks this way about their dog, but Lilly really is a freakishly smart dog and takes training VERY well – she frequently astounds us with what she learns almost by accident. The transformation she has gone through still boggles our minds. She is still fearful when people come into the house, but just for a minute or two. She is much better about being in the crate. Because she was starving when we found her, she is finally getting over food aggression.
She can be stubborn, but that even somehow lends to her interesting personality. She responds MUCH better to a calm coaxing tone versus a firm dominate one. Lilly does occasionally like to eat paper that’s lying around – especially toilet paper or tissue. However, other than one button off a shirt of mine, she has never chewed up or destroyed anything else in the house. Even when she gets the tissue, she just brings in one or two pieces to play with before she swallows. It can be difficult to get her to "drop" items, but she's made progress here as well.
She absolutely loves her Nylabones and that may be what has prevented any destructive behavior from forming. Basically, Lilly has become an incredibly easy dog to live with and a joy to have around.
Lily is listed as a referral.
