Lindsay, nicknamed Elly Mae by her foster mom, is a red tri colored 22 lb. mini Australian Shepherd around 2 years old. She is spayed and up to date on all vaccinations. Elly came to our rescue as a puppy mill bust where she most likely spent her entire life trapped in a cage. She’s a very shy timid girl who has never experienced a warm loving home, the kindness of humans and being able to play outside in her very own yard. She’s a smart cookie though as the first day in her foster home she wouldn’t even come out of her crate but 5 days later she was housebroken and leash trained. Elly gets along wonderful with her dog buddies in our home and would enjoy a home with another dog friend to guide her and show her the ropes. She has no interest in the cat and would never chase or hurt it. She finds great comfort in going into her crate with soft blankets and sleeps quietly through the night. She seems to gravitate towards women but if you gently set her on someone’s lap she will stay there soaking up all the attention she can get. She is not at all aggressive in anyway, with food, people or other animals. She’ll let you wipe her feet before coming inside and brush her and is starting to enjoy flavored rawhide bones, fetching sticks in the yard, and slowly but surely coming out of her shell. She does well in the car when going for rides and seems to enjoy the view. Elly will need a forever home that is quiet, patient and understanding of the fear a dog has coming from a puppy mill. Someone with the dedication to prove to her that she will never be hurt again. A secure fenced yard is highly recommended as she loves to run and play once she feels safe. Also, a crate, left open, filled with blankets which she can retreat too when she’s scared. She’s a beautiful and sweet little dog and with time will be an awesome addition to a loving family. Elly (Lindsay) is currently fostering in Dwight, Illinois her. If you would like to adopt her, please fill out our
