Since joining Safe Hounds, Simon has made slow but steady progress. He still has a ways to go but we believe in a supportive environment he can continue to make progress. We feel he is at a point where if the "right" home could be found, he would be ready to continue on his journey.
Simon is handsome 1 yr. old boy and weighs only 22 pounds full grown. He has been neutered, and had all his shots, is crate trained and microchipped. Simon is very energetic and playful, but currently lacks canine social skills, although he has had several foster siblings that he has been very compatible with.
Simon will only be adopted to a quiet home without children as he is easily frightened by loud noise and quick movements. He needs humans who have patience and a lot of time to devote to him, preferably with some experience socializing and rehabilitating traumatized dogs. As sweet as he is, Simon is not a suitable dog for an inexperienced person. He is slow to trust people and is still very shy. He is not yet reliably housetrained although he is crate trained. He will need to be leash walked, at least in the beginning, and NEVER allowed to roam. If you feel you have the love to give and desire to make a difference in a special dog's life please contact us about Simon.
Additional Notes: Simon is not at a shelter. All Safe Hounds Beagles are cared for in loving foster homes. Please visit: http://safehounds.petfinder.com to read our adoption guidelines and to download our application.
Safe Hounds has several "special needs" dogs currently in our care. Please consider helping us so that we may continue to help them by making a donation. We are always in need of dog food and other supplies as well as your financial support.
