Here's what the humans have to say about me:
What a dog! Buddy is truly a gentle giant. He is a 60lb Brittany with a light touch and unassuming demeanor. Affectionate and calm, but ready to play when you are, Buddy loves to fetch and be groomed (even tooth brushing and nail trimming). He is learning to walk at heel and is accepting of a head halter. He likes to walk in “Formation” with our two Britts. When you are ready to relax, he is content to lie quietly at your feet. He only barks when playing (and then only when asked to “Talk”). Buddy is a wonderfully behaved dog around other dogs. His previous caretaker reported he was good with cats and children as well but we cannot confirm it as we do not have kids or own any cats. Update 4/9/07
What has really become apparent these last two months is that Buddy needs and deserves a fenced yard of a size suitable for running after balls and playing. This is something he never had before rescue and his health suffered for it. Nothing seems to make him happier than playing fetch...except for having his belly rubbed.
With lots of exercise, premium food, and the benefits of a large fenced yard Buddy has replaced fat with muscle. His energy and stamina have improved greatly. He has shed about 5-7 pounds. Moreover, with the change he has become an even sweeter, good-natured dog than he already was, which was pretty sweet and good-natured. The tail is always wagging.
History:
Not much is known about his past other than it was less than he deserved. There may have been physical abuse but that has been difficult to confirm and there are no obvious signs temperamentally. He has shown nothing but friendliness to our dogs, vets, vet techs, women and men. Originally rescued by a well-meaning person that could not care for him, he comes to ABR as a dog that seems to truly appreciate his new chance.

He sits, stays, shakes, and catches treats (but just a few as he is watching his figure now). On that note, Buddy is learning to enjoy Premium dog food and is showing the benefits of a healthy diet in his coat and eyes after only a week. He is truly relishing all the rewards of a caring home.
Buddy is a large frame Brittany and will probably weigh in the 50-55lb range when he drops some of the “table scrap” weight he came to us with.
Buddy would be a wonderful dog for any home looking for a cool, calm and collected Brittany that is willing to play or lay depending on the household’s mood.
