My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

If you are looking for the next agility champion or the winner of the dog beauty contest at the state fair then Mimi is probably not the dog for you. If you are looking for a true companion and a dog that will be devoted to you till she breaths her last breath then she is one to consider.
Mimi is a mature female that I would guess to be five or six years old. She is spayed and current on her vaccinations and has no health problems other than middle age. Mimi is housebroken and knows her basic commands (sit, down, stay, come) is crate trained and prefers a soft bed on the floor. She is good with cats and children and gets along with other dogs. She doesn't jump up or beg at the table and rides well and enjoys just being with her person. She is well behaved on the leash and enjoys going for walks. She is attentive without being "clingy" as some neglected dogs can be. She has the independence to not mind being alone but prefers your company. I leave her in the house unconfined and have had no problems (separation anxiety, chewing etc.).
I don't know her full history but she has been in a shelter situation for the last two years. I think that makes her appreciate attention and the extra comforts of a home environment. She was confiscated as part of a hoarding case and taken to the local animal shelter where she would probably have been euthanized except for being part of the court proceedings. The lady she was confiscated from had had her for about a year and told me she had been abandoned when someone brought her there. She has been at the local shelter for about nine months, I fostered her when I could see the signs of depression starting to set in, she had a companion dog that was adopted and it left her completely alone. She was very happy to have a soft bed and some companionship. The shelter volunteer brought her to my attention after being impressed with her disposition.
Mimi is looking for a loving place to spend her remaining years, i think her past experiences has lead her to appreciate the small things in life, a soft warm bed, time in the sunshine and someone to give her pets on occasion. Although she behaves well with other dogs she likes to take a dominate role with other females. A household where she is the only dog would be best for her but she does well at my house and i have four others she lives with. I think she would be protective with her family but i have not seen any aggression. She is alert to what is going on but not a barker or overly anxious. I have caught her on the couch on occasion but all you have to do is tell her to get down. After so long on concrete i don't blame her for liking a soft chair, she does like her dog bed.
As I said Mimi is at the midpoint of her life and deserves to spend her remaining years with some comfort and attention. She will repay that with undying love and devotion. She will make a good family dog or individual companion; she seems to know the importance of having a place to call her own.
