Preston has been in rescue for several months, but the right home has still not come along for him. If you think it might be yours, please click the link below and fill out an application to begin the adoption process. While he is very happy in his foster home, he'd love to have a family to call his won!
Update - 4/4/07: As you can see by the new pics to your right, Preston is looking and feeling much better! He has completely recovered from mange, and has new hair growing in nicely. He was neutered last week, and is now ready for his forever home!
Preston is a large, goofy boy who just wants to play and be loved on all the time. He loves to play with the other dogs in his foster home (particularly Ginny!), and is wonderful with children. He has gained quite a bit of weight, and could stand to gain a few more pounds. We estimate his ideal weight would be between 90 - 95 pounds.
Meet Preston! preston is a very sweet, affectionate 4 year old male GSD. He was rescued from a shelter when his time ran out, and is now living it up in his foster home!
Preston has sarcoptic mange. We were not aware of this until the day we picked him up. He was immediately started on treatment for this, and is doing much better. It will take a while for all his hair to grow back, but he's much more comfortable than he was. Due to the mange, Preston has not been introduced to any other dogs yet, but we see no reason with his personality that he won't do fine with them. More will be posted about Preston once he's non-contagious and can come out of quarantine.
Preston is utd one routine vaccinations, flea/tick prevention and heartworm prevention. He has been microchipped, and will be neutered within the next couple of weeks.
Please Click Here to fill out an application. This is the first step in our adoption process. No adoption will be considered or discussed until this has been completed and received.
Preston must go to an indoor home where he will be an important part of the family. We do not adopt to anyone under the age of 21.
Note: Mid-South Shepherd Rescue is a no-kill, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We do not have a shelter location. Our dogs are kept in foster homes as part of a family, to help prepare them for transition into their forever homes. If you are interested in meeting one of our dogs, please contact us by clicking on the email address to your right. We will be glad to make arrangements for a meeting.
